Walking tour through the historic centre of Naples
The experience begins on Via Duomo, close to Naples Cathedral, one of the city's most important religious buildings and a place closely associated with the cult of San Gennaro.
From here, the guide leads the group through the historic centre.
The route continues towards Via dei Tribunali and Piazza San Gaetano before crossing some of the streets that form the heart of ancient Naples.
You will also discover Spaccanapoli and Piazza San Domenico Maggiore before reaching the Sansevero Chapel.
Sansevero Chapel and the Veiled Christ
The Sansevero Chapel is one of the most famous artistic attractions in Naples.
At the centre of the chapel is the Veiled Christ, created by Giuseppe Sanmartino in 1753. The extraordinary treatment of the marble gives the impression that Christ's body is covered by a thin, transparent veil.
The chapel also contains several other important sculptures and works connected with Raimondo di Sangro, Prince of Sansevero, who transformed the chapel into an extraordinary Baroque artistic complex.
In the Underground Chamber you can also see the famous Anatomical Machines.
Why choose this tour?
This experience is particularly suitable for visitors who want more than simply an entrance ticket to the Sansevero Chapel.
The guided walk provides historical context for the streets, monuments and neighbourhoods surrounding the chapel before the visit to the Veiled Christ.
With a maximum of 15 participants, the group is also smaller than many standard city walking tours.
