The atrium area preserves much of the decoration applied during the city’s final phase. Beside the impluvium stood an elegant marble table supported by sculpted winged lions. The rear part of the house was arranged around a portico and central garden, where the rooms principally used for banquets and entertaining were located. The exedra was especially richly decorated, with life-size figures of Bacchus and Venus painted on its walls. In the adjoining triclinium, the central section of the floor contained a refined inlay of coloured marbles. An aedicula used for household worship also survives on the garden’s rear wall.
